Our clients, a London couple making the big move to the country, approached us after they had purchased a large new build house which was still under construction. The property was 60% completed at the time they hired us. Their brief was for us to work with the developer to redesign the interior layout and specification of the property to give it more of a “London feel” as opposed to the planned country style. They asked us to create a feeling of simplicity and space and to make the most of the stunning open rolling countryside views to the north of the property.

For the interior soft furnishings our brief was quite unusual, the owners had two small dogs and so didn’t want any rugs or fabric upholstered sofas in the house. despite this restriction they also requested us to create a “minimalist yet warm interior feel”

What we did:

We started with the spatial layout and converted four principal living areas into one large open plan living space enjoying the breathtaking views to the North.

We designed and specified a Poliform kitchen and built a cartridge wall to clearly define the living and kitchen areas and to hold the floor to ceiling kitchen cabinets. A separate island unit with a stainless steel top and integrated hob and sink was positioned so that the client who is a keen chef could cook whilst enjoying the view! Lastly a huge stainless steel industrial extractor hood spanned the entire width of the island to ensure cooking smells wouldn’t pollute the living area.

A Bang & Olufsen home cinema and music system was installed and hardwired throughout the house.

In addition we redesigned all three bathrooms, a shower room and cloakroom, installed solid oak flooring, a new lighting system and built a raised deck in the garden overlooking the views.

For the soft furnishings we specified simple linear Italian sofas and cabinets mixed in with some simple antique pieces all in earth tones to add warmth.

As per our brief we created a simple minimal dog friendly warm interior and as with all our projects our clients were delighted with their new home.
